The US has conducted an airstrike against an ISIS-K planner, the US Central Command revealed on Friday.
“U.S. military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner. The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan,” spokesman Capt. Bill Urban said.
“Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties,” Urban added.
The announcement of the strike came just a day after the US President promised to retaliate for a terrorist attack that caused the death of 13 US service members and at least 170 others in Afghanistan outside Kabul’s international airport. He also said the frantic mission to airlift Americans from Afghanistan would not stop. President Joe Biden approved the strike on the ISIS-K planner, according to officials familiar with the matter.
